Jayne Regan is a PhD student in the School of History at the Australian National University. Her thesis, provisionally titled ‘A Place in Print: The Australian Landscape in Literature, 1923-1948’, interrogates the ways that the white Australian literary community engaged with and imagined the landscape in interwar and wartime Australia. Drawing on environmental history, literary history and collective biography, Jayne’s research uses an eclectic range of landscapes, texts, and writers to investigate the nature of intellectual engagement with place in a period usually defined by war and global economic crisis.
